At King Charles I Sixth Form, alongside a commitment to achieving the best results, we believe that education is not solely based on academic prowess, but also an experience of the working world ahead and the development of personal skills. Whether students dream of an academic career at Oxford or Cambridge University, or working with the UK’s top companies and organisations, our enrichment programme gives students the opportunity to expand their horizons even further.
Planning for University
Preparation for university starts the minute students step into the sixth form study room with visits to and from universities, one to one support with UCAS applications and ongoing support sessions about finance, cooking on a budget and planning for your first term at university. Every student at King Charles I School is given the support and guidance needed to secure a place at the university of their choosing.
Preparing for work and industry
On top of academic study, sixth form students are supported to take part in work experience placements as well as internships. These placements, whether in law, journalism, science or any other sector, give our students a taste of the world of work, allowing them to make more informed decisions about their career plans as they move through and beyond sixth form study. Students are also encouraged to attend various speaker events during the school term to hear from industry professionals and learn more about the careers that might interest them in the future.
From November to July, students are encouraged to attend weekly speaker events. These include a variety of employers from industry to learn more about the careers that might interest them in the future, apprenticeship providers, university admissions tutors, subject specific speakers and charity representatives.
Our enrichment programme gives students another avenue through which they can excel, helping them to see all of the options ahead of them and to decide which will be the best possible direction for their interests and talents. Our students will go on to be influential members of industry, carving the way for the future.
