Last month Year 8 had a visit from three workers from the Royal Air Force. They described the different types of exciting careers that are available in the Royal Air Force. They talked to us about engineers, pilots and even chefs. It was fascinating especially because they did demonstrations that we were allowed to take part in. For example, they showed us how a wing works and even a VR (Virtual Reality) Simulator to show us the kind of technology used on a day to day basis in the air force. They explained the physics behind how jet engines can fly so fast and take off.
The best was the demonstration of how an engine works which was an exciting experience as it was so loud and we have never seen this close up. Overall, it was a great opportunity and gave us an insight into working with the RAF.
