During the autumn term for our very first GCSE textiles project we were given the brief to design, pattern cut and make a dress based on a botanical theme. We were given the opportunity to develop ideas on the brief in which ever way we wanted to.

This project involved us: researching the theme, developing ideas, sampling decorative techniques, making the pattern from a block, constructing the dress, adding our decorative elements and finally, assessing the strengths and weaknesses of our dresses. We all received grades for our work and were given feedback on improvements to be made.

It was an extremely engaging project! I think the best part about the project and textiles in general is the fact we are allowed so much choice in what we make and we are allowed to do.  We can take whatever are minds can conjure from the brief and refine and turn it into a fabulous product.
