In Science week, Year 8 got the opportunity to build a real working turbine and investigate factors that affect how much electricity they generate.  They were given the basic equipment and guidance on how to build the turbine and had to work in small groups to come up with working blades that would rotate at a high enough speed to make a small amount of electricity.  Students could then choose their own design of blades and make the shapes they thought would be best.  Some found this quite a challenge and the competition on how who could generate the most electricity was on!
